Fish House Cable vs Winch Strap Guide

Fish-house lift systems may use stainless cable, winch strap or a combination of components depending on the manufacturer, model year and frame design. The correct replacement is the type specified for the existing lift system—not whichever looks easier to install.

Fish House Winch Cable

ICNUTS offers 1/4-inch stainless cable kits for selected fish-house applications. Cable length and end hardware vary by frame and manufacturer. For example, compatible single-axle Ice Castle and Yetti side-cable kits use different fitment rules, while Forest River Grey Wolf / Ice Cave applications use their own cable lengths and pulley setup.

Fish House Winch Straps

Some compatible wheelhouse lift systems use winch straps instead of cable at the winch. Strap width, attachment method and drum setup must match the application. ICNUTS carries strap kits for selected Yetti and Glacier applications where specifically listed.

Do Not Convert Cable to Strap Without Verifying the System

A cable drum, strap drum, anchor point or pulley system may be designed around a specific material and path. Do not convert from cable to strap, or strap to cable, unless the winch and frame setup are confirmed for that configuration.

• Manufacturer and model year.
• Single-axle or tandem-axle frame.
• Existing cable or strap type.
• Side-cable and front-hitch lengths.
• Pulley size and cable path.
• Winch direction and mounting pattern.
